Book Title: Snow White in New York

●Summary

 In New York, a poor little rich girl called Snow White who lived happily with her father. But her father remarried. The stepmother was so jealous of Snow White that she plotted to get rid of her. The bodyguard who was instigated by the stepmother could not kill Snow White but leave her lost and alone. One day, Snow White met seven jazz-men and she had to work for singing if she wanted to stay there. As Snow white sang, a reporter thought she must be a stat in the future. Next day, the stepmother found Snow white did not die so she decided to get rid of her by dropping a cherry in a cocktail and gave it to Snow White. All New York was shocked by the death of Snow White. The reporter showed up when the coffin was carried up the church steps. Suddenly, the Snow White opened her eyes and she was alive. They fell in love with each other and lived a happy life forever.

●Reflection

  What catches my eyes is the title of this book. We are familiar with the Snow White in our childhood but this book is different somehow. The scene, the personalities of the characters, the time when the story happened, the climax and the denouement are different from the classic Snow White. I see Snow White in this story is strong and independent to make her lives. She sang to make herself successful and attract someone who becomes her true love in the end of the story. However, the perfect Snow White was jealous by her stepmother who was plotted to kill her. In this society, we can still see the same situation when one’s mother or father remarry to someone else. In addition, the illustrations in this story catch my eye a lot. The pictures have contraction and many details. Snow White is brighter but the stepmother is darker. Although this story is the revised vision, I enjoy in it according to different plots.
